Kolis, one of Mumbai’s earliest fishing communities, have seen their heritage, livelihoods, and identity strain under the pressures of land reclamation, pollution, and rapid urbanisation. They held together the delicate relationship between land and sea. Today, that balance is frayed.
The Heritage Project restores this balance by making Koliwadas visible and accessible. Through the Worli Koliwada Transformation Project, THP is helping the Kolis reclaim pride in their history through revitalised public spaces, storytelling, and community-led enterprise. Through partnerships, it is also rebuilding marine habitats and supporting the return of biodiversity essential to their livelihoods.
